Since 1973, the Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood Association’s annual home tour has showcased an impressive array of historic houses that grace one of Indy’s most popular neighborhoods. MKNA lays claim to hosting the largest and longest-running tour of vintage homes in the state.
And here’s why: In a compact, tree-filled neighborhood setting, architecture lovers can get an eyeful of classic American residential styles, including Craftsman, Colonial Revival, Mid-Century Modern, Neotraditional, and Tudor. Tour homes are groomed inside and out to provide visitors an exclusive view of some of the neighborhood’s most striking properties.
You’ll find inspiration for your own home makeover in the remodeled homes that mix contemporary features with historic character. Six homes are slated for the Day Tour:
- 5240 Delaware St.
- 519 E. 57th St.
- 4115 Washington Blvd.
- 4511 Broadway St.
- 5815 Carrollton Ave.
- 3825 Ruckle St.
A Twilight Tour will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 2 at St. Joan of Arc School, 500 E. 42nd St., one of the oldest institutions in the neighborhood. A Friday night under the stars with food and entertainment is a great way to unwind after a busy week. The tour of 4304 Park Ave. was specially selected because of its proximity to the historic church and school complex.
