Since the area surrounding 38th and Illinois streets was designated a “Great Place” by the City of Indianapolis and the Local Initiatives Support Corp (LISC) in 2014, five public planning sessions have sought to craft a unifying vision for the area. The Draft Plan is now available for review. More than 20 neighborhood groups, community organizations, and anchor institutions have collaborated with adjacent residents and commercial constituents on the document. Action committees focusing on individual elements of the LOVE framework (Livability, Opportunity, Vitality, and Education) are meeting monthly to further refine the vision into specific projects. Continued public participation is essential for the success of this endeavor and all are welcome to join the effort. People are invited to submit feedback after viewing the Draft Plan and supporting materials. midtownindy.org
