People who feel they have experienced or witnessed abusive behavior based on ethnicity, religion, sexuality or other social identification can now report the incident to the Marion County Hate Crimes Hotline at 317-327-5314.
The hotline is a non-emergency number. All emergencies or immediate threats should still be reported via 911.
Social Worker and Victim Advocates employed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will monitor reports to the Hate Crimes Hotline. Callers can also choose to file a formal report with the local law enforcement agency or be referred to an identity-based community service provider for trauma counseling and other assistance.
Local organizations who want to learn more about the hotline or spread awareness of it within their communities can request a presentation through the Prosecutor’s Office by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
