Midtown Music Venus Receive Grants

Beneficiaries of the third round of the Music Cities Strategy Recovery Grant Program includes four Midtown music venues: Black Circle/Loom, the Jazz Kitchen, the Melody Inn, and the Vogue. They were among thirteen independent music venues throughout Marion County that received an average of $18,923 for a total of $246,000.

“The pandemic has posed significant challenges to many of the outstanding music venues that call Indianapolis home,” said Mayor Hogsett. “That’s why this program has been so critical in sustaining and supporting the pillars of our thriving music scene.”

Businesses will be able to use the reimbursable grants for mortgages, rent, utility expenses, and other eligible expenses related to COVID-19 compliance/outdoor operations. The latest round was made possible through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding passed by Congress and unanimously approved by the City-County Council. Musical Family Tree served as the program administrator, while the Arts Council of Indianapolis served as fiscal agent.
