A multi-million-dollar investment in the former Double 8 headquarters at 2201 E. 46th St. has resulted in Refinery46, a unique co-working and business incubator space. Partners Brian Schutt, Jesse Cross, and Tom Lazzara took a creative approach to adaptive reuse of the 30,000-square-foot facility. Part of the development includes anchor tenants like HomeSense, Schutt and Cross’s heating and cooling business, and Christina’s Complete Clean, a residential and commercial cleaning service. Other tenants include Black Circle Brewing Co., a microbrewery and craft beer bar, and Elena Ruz Cuban Cuisine. But what sets the place apart is the co-working space designed specifically for the building trades. Space ranges from a secure locker to a small office to a larger suite, so you’ve got room to grow as your business grows. Access to a kitchen and meeting room are all part of the deal.
