It may seem a bit late in the summer for this reminder, but because Aug. 11 is “8/11” on the calendar it is also the nation’s official Call Before You Dig Day.
So consider yourself reminded. Before you plant that tree or drill post holes for that fence, call 8-1-1 on your phone and within a couple of days someone from your local utility company will spray paint on your yard to let you know where underground lines are buried.
Of course, if you are under a certain age the notion of using your phone to “call” anyone may feel unnatural. Don’t worry, because now you can also Click Before You Dig. Either way, allow two business days before you get started with that shovel.
