Three years after completion of the café building as part of Phase I improvements to Tarkington Park, Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station has assumed management of the space for the year. BRICS co-owner Kirstie Hayward spoke at the June BTNA meeting and said the grand opening during Tarkington Park Fest was a huge success. “We’re super excited! This summer is exploratory for us—we want to see what kind of traffic there is in the park and what the needs of the park users are.” She said the café is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, offering beverages, snacks, and soft serve ice cream in addition to 15 flavors of ice cream by the scoop. “We’re willing and able to add healthy food options and are hoping to partner with other food vendors,” she said. She added that the firm is committed to a zero-waste effort and will donate 10 percent of all sales to the park for maintenance.
