In January, longtime Broad Ripple retailer the Bike Line, 6520 Cornell Ave., received approval from the Metropolitan Development Commission for rezoning its 0.18-acre site and for a variance of development standards for setback, transitional yard, parking, and height to construct a new building. Additionally, the plan will open up the public alley along the western edge of the property to allow for traffic to exit onto Coil Street. Founded in 1979 by Tom Revard at 6406 Cornell—the site now occupied by the new home of Just Pop In!—the popular bike shop relocated to its current site in 1982. Tom’s son, Charlie, who runs the Broad Ripple location, said he’s working with architect Alex White on the 3,000-square-foot structure’s design and hopes to incorporate a “green” roof and other energy-efficient components. Revard plans to schedule construction around the busy cycling season and have the new structure open by year’s end. thebikeline.com
