Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) has completed its master planning process for the Spiritual Trail, a way to link its campus to its neighbors and create enhanced opportunities for connection to the natural world. CTS president Matthew Myer Boulton says, “Consistent with Reconnecting to Our Waterway’s definition of creative placemaking, the Spiritual Trail will be ‘a place where people can socialize comfortably and participate in art and culture in playful and surprising ways, connecting to the joys of creativity and the power of community—all with the larger benefit of improving neighborhoods and cities.’” A spur of the Art2Art Trail, the Spiritual Trail will take advantage of the campus location on a bluff overlooking the Central Canal and beyond that, the White River Valley. Stations along the path will include a digital storytelling dimension to encourage engagement with multiple forms of spirituality and self-discovery. Fund-raising has now begun in earnest for the three-phase project estimated at around $2.5 million.
